DSI PGA Rapid are synthetic, absorbable, multifilament, coated surgical sutures, that are absorbed completely by hydrolysis in the body. They are uniquely useful for dental implantology procedures due to their predictable absorption timeline and lack of antigenic reaction.
The suture composition is 90% glycolic acid and 10% lactic acid copolymerization. The coating is poly (glycolide-co-L lactide) and Calcium stearate with a visible violet color. This coating material provides non-capillarity and enables the suture to easily and reliably glide without damaging itself while tying knots.
DSI PGA Rapid sutures support wounds for approximately 10-14 days and are fully absorbed by the body in approximately 40-45 days. The tensile strength is about 50% on the 5th day and completely loosened on the 14th day with 0% wound support.
